Maura Stevens
Boston native Maura Stevens was always drawn to food, thanks to her mother, who has serious cooking chops, and two grandmothers who lived to bake and cook for their families. She got her start in the food and beverage industry in Washington, D.C. in 1995, where she managed two of well-renowned chef Mark Miller’s (of Red Sage and Raku) restaurants, and was immediately taken with the vast and bold flavors of both Mexican and Asian cuisines. She then later moved to New York, where she worked for Marcus Samuelsson at Aquavit and eventually decided to pursue her culinary degree in upstate New York. After a few years of restaurant immersion and training under amazing chefs, Maura transitioned to the catering world and fell in love with the blank canvas of creating menus, developing recipes and honing her craft, while working her way through Maine and finally back to her home state of Massachusetts. Eventually she was able to start her own venture, where she has been able to bring all of her expertise and creativity to life and share it with others who appreciate food and its power to transport and bring people together as much as she does. At last! Nomad was born and continues to grow and evolve.
